2023-03-21-World social work day

WORLD SOCIAL WORK DAY , 21 MARCH 2023 UNDER THE AUSPICES OF FITS (INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF SOCIAL WORK)

AEPDSPSF (European Association for the Promotion of the Rights and Support of People in Fragile Situations) and  ESAN (European social action network) share the programme of the World Social Work Day whose theme this year is “Respect Diversity through Common Social Action”. IFSW calls for all stakeholders for a new ecological and sustainable world to participate. This day aims to support all communities that act in accordance with the Charter of Peoples, for an eco-social world.  This day is the result of the 2022 World People’s Summit, whose objective is to leave no one behind, underpinning, security, peace in the sustainable world. But currently we are far from these contexts. It is highlighted a negative work environment for most social workers.

This requires legal recognition of social work professions, in particular versatility or general social service, support for professionals through more effective initial and continuing training, better pay and working conditions, but also recognition of their approach to social problems.

Socialwork is based on the relationship to others in their uniqueness and respect for their dignity. It aims at the access of all to all fundamental rights with a possible physical reception in particular for people far from digital. Social work must also  ensure everyone’s place in the city and within the framework of the eco-social.

So it is these principles that we want to support in France but also in Europe and in the world. International actors must be a driving force, whether it is the European Union, the Council of Europe or the UN.
